James Laver trained as a bat maker under Julian Millichamp, he worked with Julian at M&H in the UK before taking over as production manager and senior bat maker in 1994. He worked for Millichamp and Hall until 1998 when he moved to New Zealand with his New Zealand born wife Nicola.
Laver & Wood cricket bats was founded in March 1999 and formed into Laver & Wood Ltd in 2004. It is rapidly becoming a world leader in selling cricket bats on the Internet. The bats’ quality speak volumes and generally word of mouth can be our best seller due to our ever increasing base of very happy customers.
All bats are made by hand in the Hawkes Bay workshop by James. They are generally custom made to the Individuals requirements as this is the best way to get the right bat suited to the player. The bat making process is explained on other pages on this site.
Since we have set up this page, and because teachers have requested us to encourage students to search the site for information rather than us just provide it in email, we will not be providing information for projects by email.
