Knocking in Mallet
While some Laver & Wood bats come with knocking in mallets, most other bats do not. If you need a mallet for your new bat, or want a mallet for the team bag, we make a mallet that takes a lot of the pain out of knocking in as it is a quite a bit heavier than a ball on a stick. The mallet is made from hardwood, and has a round face for knocking in bats.
Please look at our knocking in section of the site to discover why bats are knocked in and how to do it. Knocking in

Grip Applicator
The Laver & Wood grip applicator is a traditional hardwood cone. Roll the grip onto the applicator and then roll onto the bat. This applicator takes the frustration out of putting a grip onto a bat.
The applicator comes with five English made rubber grips. We believe are the world's finest grips, and instructions on use. We have scoured the word for grips that have the appropriate balance between durability and abrasiveness. Too hard - the grip damages the palms of batting gloves. Too soft - the grip rips easily.

Training Bat
This bat is designed to be used in training drills, it is only 2 & ½" wide and has the length of a full size or youth bat depending on what the individual requires. The bat is very useful in developing ones eye judgment due to the lack of 'edges'. It is very good to use with a tennis ball, as these are generally very bouncy and hard to hit.

Adhesive bat facing
A product made and developed in New Zealand to enable the face of your cricket bat to last much longer than would normally. The facing is best applied after the knocking in and oiling process, when the oil has dried (usually a couple of weeks later). It has an adhesive backing on a composite polyurethane surface that is applied to the surface of the bat. This has the properties of being quite thin and yet strong enough not to split easily whilst not being too flexible. This also enhances the performance of the bats. Size of facing 115mm x 320mm approx.

Orthoplast Finger Protectors
Orthoplast is a very useful thermoplastic material that has great impact properties it is applied to the outer layer of the glove padding to create a hard barrier to resist the impact of the ball. It is very useful for players that suffer from damaged fingers often, or one is just recovering from a broken finger.
Directions for use
It is best to heat the Orthoplast in boiling water for about 15 seconds or until it goes like a piece of floppy rubber (do one piece at a time), then carefully mould the Orthoplast around the area that you want protected on the glove and let it cool. It will go back to its original hardness once it has cooled to room temperature. Once it has cooled remove the piece that you have moulded and then glue it back in place with a contact adhesive. The Orthoplast has great impact properties and makes a huge difference. It is best to make sure that the fingers have some movement though so we would recommend that you put separate pieces on each segment.
